Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White’s Meatier Productions is co-producing an animated series based on RuneScape with Lyrical Animation and Jagex. The project is in early development, and the companies have not announced a release date, distributor, cast, episode count, format or trailer.

Jagex announced the collaboration on October 3, 2026, during RuneFest. The announcement makes White’s role clearer than a celebrity voice cameo: his Meatier Productions banner is producing the project alongside Lyrical Animation, with Jagex involved as the company behind RuneScape.

What the partners have announced

The confirmed pitch is deliberately broad. Lyrical Animation, Meatier Productions and Jagex have “begun work” on an animated series inspired by RuneScape, the long-running fantasy game. Jagex did not name a streaming service or broadcaster, and it did not identify a studio schedule or release window.

That distinction matters. A project entering development is not the same as a completed series waiting for release. At this stage, scripts, financing, distribution and production plans may still change. GamesRadar reported on October 5 that further updates are expected in 2027, while noting that the initial announcement contained few creative details.

MoistCr1TiKaL’s confirmed role

White is best known online as MoistCr1TiKaL and penguinz0, but the RuneScape project is being handled through Meatier Productions. That means his disclosed role is on the production side, not merely promotional.

The announcement does not say whether White will write, direct or perform in the series. It also does not confirm that he will voice a character. Until the partners name an on-screen or creative credit beyond production, claims about his character, script involvement or screen time would be speculation.

This is part of a wider movement in which large creators are building production businesses that can develop projects beyond their own channels. The Sidemen’s Arcade expansion is another example of creators turning an audience-led operation into a broader entertainment company, while Salish Matter’s Netflix special shows how creator-led ideas can move to established distribution platforms.

What remains unknown

No public announcement currently confirms:

  • a release date or even a release year;
  • a streaming platform, broadcaster or other distributor;
  • whether the project will be a television series, a web series or another format;
  • the number or length of episodes;
  • a cast, characters or story setting;
  • whether it will draw primarily from RuneScape, Old School RuneScape or both; or
  • a trailer, teaser or production artwork.

Those gaps are substantial, but they do not make the project imaginary. They define its current stage. Cartoon Brew reported on October 8 that White was adding another animation project through the partnership, independently corroborating the companies and the early-development status.

Why RuneScape suits an animated adaptation

RuneScape has more than two decades of characters, locations, quests and player-created memories to draw from. Animation can reproduce its fantasy world without the physical constraints of live action, but the open-ended nature of the game also creates a difficult adaptation choice: the producers must decide whether to tell a focused original story, adapt familiar quests or build around the way players experience the world.

That creative decision has not been disclosed. For now, it is safer to treat comparisons with successful game adaptations as hopes rather than evidence about tone or quality. The collaboration has recognizable partners and source material, but there is not yet enough information to judge the story, visual style or intended audience.

What to watch for next

The next meaningful update would be a distributor, showrunner, director, animation studio, cast list or formal production timetable. Any of those would show how far the project has moved beyond the development announcement.

Until then, the confirmed takeaway is narrow but significant: MoistCr1TiKaL’s production company is helping develop an official RuneScape animated series with Lyrical Animation and Jagex. Everything about when and where audiences might watch it remains unannounced.
