Crunchyroll Unveils Black Clover Update and New Series at Anime Expo 2025

By

Crunchyroll made a splash at Anime Expo 2025 with an impressive lineup of announcements that left anime enthusiasts buzzing with excitement. The annual Industry Panel, held in Los Angeles, served as the stage for revealing new details about Black Clover, along with first looks at upcoming projects and long-awaited updates on popular series.

One of the most anticipated reveals was the confirmation that Black Clover will return for a brand-new season, exclusively streaming on Crunchyroll. Studio Pierrot, known for iconic series like Naruto, Bleach, and Tokyo Ghoul, will once again take the helm for this next chapter. Fans were treated to a fresh teaser trailer and key visual during the panel, building anticipation for what’s ahead. Yuki Tabata, the original manga creator, expressed his enthusiasm for the announcement, especially in light of the series’ 10th anniversary:

“The production of the long-awaited new anime season of Black Clover has been confirmed! I’m beyond ecstatic going into the new anime season after the super-passionate movie that came out! Thanks to all of you, Black Clover is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! I definitely plan to keep this hype going! I want fans from Japan and all around the world to enjoy the powered-up anime that’s going to be brought to you by the most awesome anime production staff! Thank you so much for supporting Black Clover!”

Another major highlight of the event was the official confirmation that Daemons of the Shadow Realm, based on Hiromu Arakawa’s (of Fullmetal Alchemist fame) manga, will be adapted into an anime. Directed by Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger), the series promises to deliver an “otherworldly fantasy where mystery and the uncanny intertwine,” as teased in the exclusive trailer shown during the panel.

Fans of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- got more than just good news—Season 4 is officially set to debut on Crunchyroll in 2026. Produced by studio WHITE FOX, with director Masahiro Shinohara returning, the upcoming season generated excitement with a sneak peek featuring characters Natsuki Subaru and Emilia stepping into a Western-style saloon to order milk—an oddly charming scene that only added to the show’s quirky charm.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation also saw its third season announced for a 2026 premiere. A nearly two-minute teaser gave viewers a taste of the stunning animation from Studio Bind, while teasing action-packed sequences and the return of beloved character Eris. This update comes hot on the heels of Season 2’s emotional conclusion, setting high expectations for the next installment.

Additional announcements included the upcoming second season of Classroom of the Elite, which will soon make its way to Crunchyroll. Alongside it, Classroom of the Elite – Merge Puzzle Spacial Exam – has launched globally in the Crunchyroll Game Vault, marking its first release outside Japan. The game is completely free of microtransactions, ads, and in-app purchases, making it accessible for fans across different membership tiers.

Other notable reveals and releases include:

  • Sentenced to Be a Hero – Debuting in January 2026, the series offered a special teaser preview during the panel.
  • Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider – This action-comedy inspired by the legendary tokusatsu hero Kamen Rider will premiere in October 2025.
  • You and I Are Polar Opposites – Rom-com fans can look forward to this lighthearted series arriving in January 2026.

  • Hiroyuki SAWANO LIVE [nZk]008 – Music lovers can catch this concert later this summer as part of Crunchyroll’s growing library of full-length performances.
